Project Detail
Embodied Learning for Japanese Language Education
Overview
CS4240 Interaction Design for Virtual and Augmented Reality is a NUS course I took to explore the research side of UX design. The course required students to conduct research, pitch a proposal, and build prototypes to validate hypotheses through user studies, experiments, and statistical analysis.
Research Question
How does the level of embodiment in immersive VR environments for second language learning impact short- and mediumterm learning outcomes, as well as learners‘ cognitive and affective states?
The level of embodiment in our study is discretized into two conditions, high- versus low- embodiment, which will be implemented and compared against each other
The main contributions of this project are as follows:
- Design of a VR language learning system with semantically grounded embodied interaction.
- Empirical evaluation of learning outcomes and user experience across different levels of embodiment.
- Insights into how embodiment design influences learning effectiveness, cognitive load, and user engagement.
